Thanks lads, will keep original plate as chassis has the tags, vin plate on dash I think so will transfer to new shell.
Doesn't seem too hard really. I've bent the sill quite badly and the door doesn't shut too well.. Hardtop on mine is stupidly worth more than a shell, but time needed to swap over and cost of re spray on shell are the big problems.

Cheers

Gary

As long as u have the means to get the body of and back on its not very hard at all just check u have undone everything and u should be good to go I think u can lift it about an inch or so to check nothing is caught just go slowly and keep check as for the dvla and logbook wise coz the jimny has a chassis and body it doesn't matter with them as long as u don't change the chassis so it would have to say on the sliver number plates u can swap the dash for the window number and the top tag in the engine bay is just riveted on so easily swapped over and has for the colour u could just send the logbook off with a colour change on the bottom until u got the money to paint it or u could just leave it red as we all know that's the best colour lol
Hope this helps

Seems like a great project.

I've watched a lot of programs like Overhaulin' and such. They (Overhaulin') always seem to manage to lift a tub or whatever with just mucho man power but other shows use a pillar lift except for the smaller stuff. At least it ain't welded to the outriggers.
There is quite a lot on doing it to Pajeros on the POCUK (Pajero Owners Club) and essentially it must be the same
Take lots of pics! ;)

I had three friends help me lift an SJ body off, it wasn't a struggle with everything stripped out.

Some Suzukis and a bunch of motorcycles.
