High engine revs was created by Basketcase
Not had the Jimny running for a few months while I fitted the winch to it now when I start it the reva won't stay below 2250, if you dab the throttle they drop to 1500 the. Go straight back up to 2250, I can't see any air leaks anywhere where air may be getting in. Any ideas?

I had that problem with my Jimny after it had sat on the driveway for an extended time.
It turned out if was the idle control valve which had sized up. I cured it by taking the throttle body off first and then the valve off of the throttle body. A good clean up and the valve was turning again like new. totally cured the problem for me

I wonder if just using it regularly will help it sort itself out?

It's still got 1/4 tank of fuel in it since about October would that cause high revs?

No, it would cause misfires or lumpiness if anything. Fill it up with fresh to dilute the old stuff and after a few tank fulls (not long in a Jimny) it will mostly have gone.
