Brake caliper :o) was created by gembrand
Hi,
Got a sticky brake caliper,l know that now because of help l have had from the great guys on this forum but l'm not sure what to do.l would like to buy a caliper from the BigJimny shop and get a mate of mine with all the tools to fit it,rather than a chap l have used for all of my vehicles who owns a garage and has already quoted £300.Firstly will the sticky brake problem be sorted with a new caliper, suppose it's a case of elimination.Like to do it myself but l would think you would have to bleed the brakes and l'm not sure how that works :o)

£300 is very expensive I had one seize up completely on mine 2 weeks ago, I had a new one fitted for £180 but he also fitted new disc and pads and rear shoe's at the same time which I supplied. he needs to bring his price down pal!!

It is the calliper its self or the slider?

You'll not know until you take the calliper off but you don't want to buy a new calliper if it was just a slider that needed freeing up.

Kirky is right. Both my front calipers were sticking and squealing. I changed the pads, polished the sliders and changed the discs as they were very scored. I put anti-squeal and brake grease in the right places. That solved the problem and a lot cheaper than changing calipers.
If the slider seals are going and water has got in it will corrode them. Doesn't take much as the movement is only a couple of mil either way.
