I wouldn't take the gearbox out as well to be honest. You'll have a big lump to put back in with both together!
It'll not be fun putting the engine and box back together in or out of the car but I think I would prefer to leave the box in the car so there is much less of a lump to lift over and into the engine bay. I've done it before on my old SJ with no issues and the Jimny is not much different. I did that on my own so if you have helping hands it ought to be fine, just one of those jobs that might make you swear a bit!

Interesting Mick, I've probably done 10 to 12 g13b or g16b jimny engines and none had a sump gasket? No harm in fitting one I suppose??? Maybe that is for the earlier Sammy engines and its a generic set?

Big red Jimny 32" tyres, arbs, cage 5:1 transfer etc. (Sold)
Grey pick up Jimny
Turbo m13a, arbs, floating rear shafts, disc conversion rear, vented front conversion. 245 70 16. Winch, 3" lift, 4:16 trans hd shafts and CVS

I think it did cover a few of the Suzuki's
Ref the gearbox I meant to use it to align the clutch and then refit each separately.

I wouldn't bother with the sump gasket, the sump isn't designed for one and it will squeeze out when you tighten the bolts.
