Have you checked the oil and coolant levels?

The burning smell might be from what you described in your last post sounding like a binding brake caliper.
I hope you get it all sorted and have a more positive start to your new jim ownership.

take the car straight back. a genuine dealer is obliged to offer a warrantee on vehicle sales, the minimum as I recall is 3 months.
you can manually test the C.E.L. but I don't know where the plug is on a Jimny.
on the Vits, you could insert a wire across two points of the plug, and the C.E.L would flash a code to you, which could be cross referenced with the Haynes manual/and or other suitable manual to identify what the fault was.
Paul.

If one of your calipers is binding to the extent that you can smell it, one of your wheels will be hotter than the rest after a reasonably lengthy drive (20mins+?). Check carefully from the outside near the tyre inward, it could be hot enough to burn you at the centre where it connects to the brake disk so go easy.
