Servicing Query - Front and Rear Prop Shaft Seals was created by laughoverlouder
Hi I have recently been advised by Garry Cricks Maroochydore Suzuki that they can not replace the Front and Rear Prop Shaft seals ( which have torn ), they have stated ( the whole shafts have to be replaced as the boots do not come seperatley ). They are also saying that to replace the Gear Selector seal the gear box needs to be dropped and that to do both jobs they need 12 hours of labour and the whole job will cost over $3000. Is any one able to confirm the validity of this. It just seems so extreme and expensive?

Front prop seal on the sliding joint is a simple slide off slide on job once the prop is off
The rear one is a another thing, some people have used cv joint boots to make an external cover
I would imagine the selector seal would be able to be done in situ as you can do the propshaft output with the box still in. I'll have a look at my spare box. Although there are 3 types of jimny gearbox so I can't speak for them all
