HID Installing was created by Calcium09
Hey guys,
I was hoping that someone on here could help me?
I have a set of HID lights and ballasts that I am trying to install on my 99 jimny. I have plugged everything in where it needs to go and then the connected the bulbs, turned them on and got NOTHING!
Any help you can provide would be great, for info:
35w slim ballasts
6000k
H4 bulbs (dual beam)
Thanks

Have you remembered that a Jimny is wired differently to most cars , having a moment and can't think of the right term for it tho... It'll come to me...

Negative Switching... I haven't had a look at Jimny headlights yet, but if they anything like Vitaras... they have 3 (or 4?) wires to the headlight bulb, all of which are (initially) positive?!?! (FFS!), then, when you switch to sidelights one of the wires drops to ground, then when you go to dipped a different wire drops to ground, and finally when you go to main beam another different wire drops to negative....?!?!
This is why "we" used to wire a relay in reverse, i.e. the live feed and the trigger wire were always positive, but we used to trigger the relay using the earth, i.e. when the high beam specfic wire dropped to negative that would trigger the relay (by it getting a ground/earth)...

Hey guys, I now have them wired so they turn on but my main beam light is on on my dashboard permanently and won't turn off and I'm not sure if that means my lights are on normal or main beam? The pattern doesn't change with moving the stalk?
Does anyone know squat might be causing this?

No they're not legal. They might pass an mot but they fall foul of the construction and use regs.
