Soft top treatment was created by Jenks
I have recently bought a Jimny VVT with a soft top. More accurately my wife bought it for me. I didn't want a soft top variant, but my wife and grand children did. I just wanted a little 4X4 that I could tow a trailer off road, full of logs. The soft top had a tear at one of the rear corners and the press studs didn't line up.
I had a local firm repair the tear and realign the press studs. It made me wonder given the age of the car (9 years old) Is there anything that I can treat the canvas with ( if that it is what it is) That will keep it supple and enhance its water proofing properties. Thanks in advance of any suggestions.

PS ... In spite of its lousy fuel consumption, and ridiculous cost of road tax. I love my little Jimny.

Welcome to the forum Jenks,
Congratulations on your jimny what a lovely family you have.
On previous convertibles I have tried a few cleaners and protectors. Although there might be better out there for me Autoglym rubber and vinyl care did the trick. I also use it now and then on all the rubber door seals to stop them drying out and shrinking.
I think with vinyl/synthetic roof they tighten over the years from the material shrinking this then leads to tearing. But as you have had a new one you will be good for years.
The poppers or zips may benefit from a small smearing of grease to stop corrosion and sticking.

I rub an old dry soap bar on the poppers, makes them go on easy as. For the vinyl I wash with warm soapy water and then, when dry, rub ArmourAll Protectant well into the vinyl and buff off. It attracts the dust but you only have to treat it every 3 to 4 washes. Stays supple and my front soft-top roof is the original, 14 years old.

My soft top is ok and no leaks. However the press studs onto the rear door don't line up. Think it's shrunk a good inch but I don't mind she's a Princess
