Battery Cut Off Switch Location was created by ZukracerV6
Hey Guys!
I need to fit a battery cut of switch to my RTV Jimny in order for it to comply to the competition regulations. I will be fitting a FIA and MSA approved one that also kills the ignition to prevent engine run on. For this that did not know on some cars and the Jimny if you disconnect the battery while the engine is running this will not kill the engine as the alternator still provides power. So the switch has additional terminal to disconnect the battery and ignition.
So my two question are? Any ideas on location and does anyone know the colour of the ignition wire I need to find and cut into?
Cheers
Sam

Shouldn't there be a 12v feed to the coil packs? Kill that and you've no spark.

It's a thought, will have a look but it's seems with most modern vehicles the manufactures don't just settle on one wire but prefer about 20! One to look at this weekend

Use the additional terminal to isolate the alternator?

I recently fitted one to my rtv Jimny. It's inside the cab where the radio would normally be. The one I bought had the main cut out and also a normaly made and a normaly disconnected extra terminals when the switch is live. The normaly made I used to cut out the ignition and the other for the alternator. To cut out the ignition there is one fuse in the box that powers the ignition circuit. I removed this and put a terminal in at each end of where the fuse was. This then had an inline fuse and was wired through the cut out. It stops the engine without causing any damage to the ecu and the fuse protects the circuit. It's also good when you are not using the vehicle to avoid any battery drain.
