Are there examples of Jimny builds, or Jimny based rigs, which have been built or heavily modified and are able to compete in events on par with challenge events? I mean something on the lines of what Rockwatt has done with his SJ "Zero"? Or more extreme even.

With gear ratio corrections, I do have a Rocklobster acquired from a previous project. Hopefully there's aftermarket crown wheel & pinions or tbox gears available to make further gear ratio mods if necessary.

Are Jimny's more prone to failure than the previous SJ's then? Ie they didn't have chain drive in the tbox and Flameboi said that SJ propos are better.

As I wrote earlier.
You don't need a tons of stuff to compete and do well. You only need the right stuff. Also, forget the cheap suspension kits. Save up and get som decent shocks, no cheaper than Trail Master, Bilstein etc. Also get springs that match the weight. With a heavy winch bumper and winch you'll need diesel springs. I have the hardest springs available to the Jimny because of my winch. And what a difference it is compared to the cheap +4" springs I had before.

A good winch, lockright, rocklobster transferbox and 215/235-75-15 special tracks will get you a long way.

The reason Flameboi mentioned SJ props is that the Jimny rear prop wont fit with a rocklobster.
