Lada Niva T-Box Info

Has anyone done this conversion before? I was going to go for a rocklobster to get lower drive ratios, but am thinking that for what I use the Jimny for, the ability to have permanent 4X4 even on tar that the Niva box will provide clinches the deal. Lada tbox ratios are almost identical to ''03 manual Jimny ratios. I might at a later stage look into getting the diffs off a Jap turbo Jimny, as there was another thread saying that these are also an option for lowering ratios.
I've got 2 options, either a tbox for a 1.6 or 1.7 Niva, so was wondering which would be best to go for. How much of a job is getting new mounts fabricated, and everything else that goes into this conversion. I'll need to get it done for me as I don't weld.

Both the niva boxes are the same so any, but what I can tell you is they can be "lobsterised" in a way ! I think you use one of the gear from the gearbox to convert ! 3rd gear I think.
The niva box also mounts central so would need a fair bit of work to mount it but can be done.

Might have to put the idea on the backburner if the costs get too high, the Tboxes I've found are 690 Euros anyway, so shipping to UK will be a bit of a spanking, so was hoping the conversion wouldn't have been much more than just fabbing up some new mounting points. You able to put a ballpark figure on what you'd have charged if you were doing it? I'm up in NE Scotland, so doubt it'd be you I used (unfortunately), but would be nice to know.
Just after I posted this thread I was looking at other Lada stuff, and came across ways to 'lobsterise' a Niva Tbox. You're right, it's the 3rd gear from the normal gearbox. I see some companies do kits. Here are some links...
Linky
Above link has instructions for conversion too.
Wish there was more demand for this mod here in UK, as I haven't seen too many questions/threads about this so doubt it's be worth putting on your list of future projects thread.

If I was fitting one I think it would be in the region of about £500+ cost of props.

Need to look look at finances after Xmas, but I may be up for one of the tboxes if they're still around then... Thanks again for the info, am quite keen on this conversion.

Factory Ratios
High 42/35 = 1,200
Low: (37/26)x(42/28) = 2,1346
Input gear High: 35 tooth
Input gear low: 26 tooth
Intermediate gear high 28 tooth
Intermediate gear low: 37 tooth
Output gear : 42 tooth
Modification for “low-low“
Input gear low: 21 tooth
Intermediate gear low: 32 tooth
High 42/35 = 1,200
Low: (42/21)x(42/28) = 3,000
Flow in low and high
Replace of the input gear for the third of gearbox
Replace the intermediate gear for the ring of intermediate differential
Grinding and check the remainder material in the housing.
For installation on the jimny....
THE OUTPUT SHAFTS ARE IN THE LEFT (JIMNY ARE IN THE RIGHT)
For jimny with lever control t-case low are 1,32, lada niva t-case are 1,2 (is necessary to change gears of high ratio)
In jimny electric t-case, the ratios are optimal
If you added kit promolada www.promolada.com/promofotos.html
Have
4x2 high
4x4 high with central differential
4x4 high with central differential locked
4x4 low with central differential
4x4 low with central differential locked
