Sorry folks here again. I AM going to fit a 1.6 VVT Liana engine into my non VVT Jimny. Research is driving me nuts though. I have all the info on cams for the 1.5 Ignis that show identical journal sizes on the VVT engine for the Jimny camshafts to fit off a non VVT Jimny. The exhaust cam has same lift etc as jimny. The VVT inlet cam has 0.5 mm higher lift which I think is there for the VVT function. I am fairly certain now that if the cams are swapped together with timing chain cover and crankshaft sprocket a VVT engine can be converted back to non VVT. It will also require blocking off of oil feed from the front journal feed to the VVT set up on the inlet cam which is easy to do. My belief is that this will revert the engine back to non VVT spec which will make it compatible with the ECU in the Jimny (With other minor mods and relevent injectors). I am still struggling to find the spec for the VVT 1.6 Liana cams however. (I do suspect will be the same though as the 1.5 Ignis). Can anyone help????
With low mileage non VVT engines becoming rare I would like to think that this backward conversion is a way forward for older Jimnys that need a replacement engine. OR if you wish to increase engine size.
Any comments of hopefully technical info greatfully received.
