Throttle position sensor? was created by Grego
Hi all, was driving the jim the other day when the revs seemed to drop out when changing gear almost as if the engine was being turned off for one second or so inbetween changes ,also the engine cut out for no reason when moving off in first. I've also occasionally had a strange wandering idle for a couple of months .

Anyhow, this time the engine management light came on and I managed to read it before it turned off again.

It came up with P0120 Throttle/ Pedal /position sensor Switch A Circuit.

Seems about right as to how it was driving.

Question is, what and where is it, is it serviceable or do I need a new one, and also the best place to buy from if it needs to be replaced

Thanks JB but I should have mentioned mine is the M13a twin cam, found the thing, a slightly different place to the G13b and a bit inaccessible (and im hoping those screws are torx as you cant see the heads), also found a section in the manual about the P0120 code so guess I will try to figure it out, although if anybody can tell me how to disconnect it without breaking anything........, the MAP sensor unplugs nice and easy but this ones a bit tougher

It's on the back of the throttle body. Held on with 2 Phillips screws. You need to take the 4 12mm bolts off and lift the throttle body off. Air pipe off first

Agree with previous comment. Two phillips/posidrive screws. Can be tight. Recently replaced but with inlet manifold off Take care or might round off screw heads. Perhaps use a 90 degree screw driver/spanner??????
