Vacuum hubs very slow was created by Vinnie
Went laning week end with few of boys off Big jim site and I lost 4x4 the light was flashing then no light at all I've checked pipes and found a split pipe where the rubber joins the solid,I've cut it back and reconnected but still didn't work,I've read checking vacuum hubs thread and checked fuses etc but nothing,I see it said pipes may b blocked so I removed the pipe I have just repaired and blew through it,I could hear air blowing out in engine bay from the filters maybe ??? I could also hear water bubbling from there also, so I'm assuming as the pipe was split its sucked water into system??

Is this a closed system or should I be able to blow through pipes??

After blowing though I tried 4x4 again and it's working with a very strong !Click! !Click! Out off 4x4 in 4x4 click click great I though its fixed,Carried on as wipers needed fixing as near side rod arm is buggered so pulled that apart and went back to just check 4x4 again and moved lever and waited about 5 secs for light to come on then about 10-15 seconds for first !Click! Then about 10 secs for second !Click! It's very slow now so pulled pipe off again and blew down it tested again and it's fast again but if left its back to slow is this due to water ? Anyone else had water in system?

must be crap in the hubs. they are serviceable. when i bought my aisin manual hubs the amount of crud in there was unreal. a strip and clean would be my recommendation. take a look at kirknuts sticky on fixed hubs and you'll see most of what goes on in there. the 4wd activates by a sliding collar so any muck in there can prevent a proper function

standard jimny - for now

I have taken them off and they are clean and dry, seems to be water in pipes. I've put a battery pump on it and have blown it threw but can still here water bubbling somewhere.

Make them fixed Vinnie and never worry about it again!

Just read the hub fix again and see it said that because there is a vacuum tank the hubs can be operated with out engine running BUT mine don't,will only work with engine running any ideas why ?
