front axle and kingpin leak ? was created by foggy
Guys,

Looked through forum and see similar problems so I have loaded up pics so that clever peeps can give me advice before I have to spend a load of cash.

Had the kingpin seal changed?(think that's what it is called) but leaking again, not as bad. Could it be fitted incorrect, could there be pitting in the ball park which would tare the seal and cause leak.. If so do I need to change complete front axle or just check other things first etc.. When I say me I mean local garage.. What should I be asking them to check/do before they say you need to change complete axle..

Thanks Guys.

The large seal with the small bolts around the outside is only a dust seal, id say the inner seal has gone (the one you get with a kingpin bearing kit). Did you change the bearings or just the inner seal last time? Chances are the bearings have gone meaning excess movement in the shaft which causes the seal to wear.

ya agreed need to change the kingpins or possibly the wheel bearing grab the wheel with jimny jacked up and feel for movement 12 and 6 will be kingpins and 3 and 9 will be wheel bearing this isn't a complete way of testing but gives a good idea if it was me I would do both wheel bearings both side of kingpins and new seals then be happy for a wile that its going to be fine
