4x4 dash light... anyone know where wire is? was created by X8GGY
'laning on Sunday in bright sunshine and I was struggling to see if the 4x4 light was lit or not... I have a 2WD Low ratio selection (thanks to Rockwatt) which is just in front of 4WD Low, so it's possible to miss 4WD Low by pushing the transfer stick too far forward, so I was wondering if I could fit a bigger auxiliary indicator light to show when I've correctly selected 4x4...
Anyone ever done anything similar?
Or know what colour(s) and where to find the 4x4 indicator wire?
Hmmm, or can I wire to the switch on the transfer box? There's an idea?!
Ta,
Dave

Pull the dash clocks out, swap the 4x4 light bulb with a bright LED, can get all sorts of little car fitments on ebay, should be something to fit which would show up better mate.
See you tomorrow

I would do as Gary says to avoid an extra "out of place" light in the dash.
If it isn't bright enough though, you could use a positive feed from the switch which is live only when switched, so the side that goes to earth, and have it switch a relay that supplies its own 12v to a new light.
It would save taking the dash binnacle out if you're not fond of that idea and don't mind an extra light on the dash - it's an off-roader at the end of the day and you have loads of extra switches.
