Ok can change that for a few quid but would this give it a heating problem ?

The thermostat is usually where the radiator top hose meets the block, but I think you have a single cam engine and it's a long time since I had one of those.

Tried the test didn't have a newspaper though so used a pizza box lol but couldn't stop the fan ?

Re the pics yes that is where the thermostat lives. Bugger to get at
