If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there

The kingpin bearings have gone, you need
www.test.bigjimny.com/store/index.php?_a=product&product_id=6 per side
plus some waterproof grease to put inside the housing.
www.bigjimny.com/index.php/information/q...ask=weblink.go&id=34
Also have a look using the forum search, this has been covered loads of times, and you don't need to do quite as much dismantling as in the guide.

Thanks very much "facade". Would you recommend replacing the swivel seals too while I've got it all apart?

Just had exactly the same issue with mine and my brothers jimnys! We got all our bits from the big jimny store and it was all spot on, new kingpin bearings and axle oil seal on each side. I bought the waterproof grease an copper slip from the store too. Also bought some diff oil from halfords to top up the front diff

Not unless they are torn to pieces no, they are about £50.
Their job is to provide a bit of frictional damping (that they don't do very well) and keep dust & water out (that they don't do very well
)
The housing is not full of oil so shouldn't leak.
The internal axle seal is replaced, it comes in the kit.
