Dual Battery System advice was created by jtayl153
I'm setting up a dual battery system in my Jimny. Need some advice.

I have A/C and ABS and need a tray for the battery to sit on, and nowhere (that I've found, or that my 4x4 mod guys have found) make on for a jimny with ABS.

Here's a standard engine bay (not mine)

Here's what I want to do:
Battery tray is mounted between ABS and front. Window washer and radiator overflow bottles mounted to the tray.

Thoughts?

Also, as far as the batteries themselves go, I'll be keeping my standard battery for start up, and ill use an Optima D3478 (yellow top) as my Aux battery. Should be able to run a winch and a fridge!

Custom make a tray yourself or get someone to fab one for you, is there enough room between the abs module thing near the bulkhead and the washer bottle?I dont have abs so cant look. Looks tight from the pic, id look at making a tray that relocates the washer bottle in line with the rad expansion chamber and mounts the battery where the washer bottle is if that makes sense.

thats what I meant only I don't english too good at 1am ;)

Yeah, I've measured it, there's enough room for a battery to mount where the washer bottle is, and I'd then mount the washer bottle and radiator expansion chamber to the tray.

I also have a ABS Jimny and originally wanted two batteries, like on my old SJ that had two batteries, but there really is not a lot of room.

So, I didn't fit another battery, and to be quite honest i haven't suffered... as yet!! Even using/abusing the winch a few weeks ago at a Punch Hunt.

If I was pushed to fit it, then the i think that i would move the washer bottle backwards towards the ABS unit/pipes and then fashion a battery tray in the space closer to the headlight - the only problem I anticipate, is will there be enough room (height) for the 2nd battery to miss the bonnet?

I have also heard that Russ (JimnyBits) has done something, but I would like to see his engine bay to understand/see what he has done there ...

Good Luck, and if you do something I'd be interested to see it :)

Jalapeño, IISY?
