Strange oil leak

Had my jim over a pit yesterday and noticed an oil leak around the gear box, had a good look and there's oil dripping from the underside of the gear stick, and the top of the box has oil on it too, looked on here and there's nothing coming from the engine so I'm guessing it's that rubber bung thing on the box that's come out, but would that get up to the gear stick? The oil is also nice and clear and it doesn't stink like gear box oil is said to, but I've never actually smelt gearbox oil. If it is that bung that has come out is it box out to replace and can it be checked with the box still in?

It's a 2008 vvt by the way

Ive had the same thing in my 08 VVT. Not a massive deal. Just monitor the oil levels in the gear box and you'll have nothing to worry about.

All it is, is the little O-ring seal between the gearbox and where the gear stick meet. Just wear and tear. I haven't replaced mine yet, it's on the list but it's not critical.

Only think I haven't investigated is, to fix it, can I do it without taking the gearbox off?

That's pretty pants then, I've only done 16000 miles but at least it's not serious ish
