Steering damper causing trouble was created by Jutwit
Fitted a steering damper about a week ago and now both ball joints on the steering arm it's attached to have gone, grease leaking out of them all over the place, only had a look cos it was shaking and weaving at 45 mph so thought this must be a death wobble, any one else had trouble after fitting a steering damper, it can't be coincidence can it?

Can they be fitted incorrectly ? From what I can see there's only one way to fit them? I've got the land rover shock one, maybe that's why landys always breaking so now it's broken mine. Any chance of a pic to compare?

YES the can be fitted incorrectly.
here's mine, it's an Tough Dog RTC Dampener.
With mine, the silver clamp on the shock needs dead centre of the shock and you'll need to adjust the extension of the shock so it's in the correct position on the trailing arm as well. The first bit is easy, the second bit, I had my wheel alignment guys do.
You see, if installed wrong, the damepener will push the training arm away, making it fight the steering which = wobble.
DO some trial and error or pay the money and go to a 4x4 specialist and ask for a wheel alignment and for them to adjust your dampener

I don't have a spring on mine, will whip it off for now, I'm gonna get the ball joints changed and ask them to have a look at the same time
