Newbie owner...Bonnet question...be gentle with me was created by kivvy
I bought my Jimny o2 in February.the day before I went away the engine warning light came on but I didn't have chance to look at it Ive been away for three weeks so didnt intend bothering with it til I got back. After having to go on the internet for the bonnet release (d'uh) I have found that the lever has seized and I cannot open the bonnet. Is there another way to release it? I had seen the bonnet open prior to me purchasing it. Thanks in advance.

If it isn't popping up at all, get somebody to pull the lever in the glove box whilst you try to get your fingers under the bonnet and lift. If that works once it's up, plenty of wd40 and work the lock a couple of times.

Also try getting someone to pull the leaver in the glove box and give the bonnet a sharp bang with your fist to see if it will just pop you might have to do it a few times for it to work thats how we have to do it with my mates 90 then like wiltec17 says plenty wd or lubricating oil

As above but instead of banging, have someone lean on the bonnet to take the pressure off the catch, then let go and see if it comes up.

Bonnet open, liberal use of WD40 and layabout son. Thanks all for help and advice!
