Dust Problem was created by Childs
Hi all.

I am looking for some help and advice. We have a 2000 Jimny which we have had almost 3 years, which we use a lot on Salisbury Plain. Never had this problem before but we are now suffering loads of dust comming into the cabin whilst travelling on the dry scalping tracks, so much so that you can taste and feel it. It seems to be around all the interior trim everywhere especially where there is a join or gap. Would it be the rear door? The top of the rear door doesnt close as tight as I think it should, but does not rattle. Is there a way of tightening the rear door? Any ideas appreciated.

If the rear door doesn't seal properly then you are likely to get dust inside the vehicle, you may also draw in carbon monoxide from the exhaust although my rear door doesn't fit well at the top and I haven't yet noticed an issue. You should be able to adjust the door by loosening off the hinge bolts

Some Suzukis and a bunch of motorcycles.

What about the vent just under the rear, 'top' lights, the one that's like a flap?

Could it be that, perhaps?

Just a guess..... :)

Something to try that might work is to put one of Martin's filters in the heater, and then when you are on tracks turn the fan speed up. This has the effect of pressurising the cabin and will help to stop dust getting in.

Imo its the fans drawing the dust in as theres no pollen filter fitted. The vents are never fully closed.
