Kangarooing and no throttle response was created by Dan30Jimny23
Hi,
I have recently brought a Suzuki Jimny 2002 and sadly it has already shown up an intermittent fault
I'm hoping someone else has experienced something similar, please bare with me as I try and explain the fault (slightly difficult as its never happened when I drive it!).
While driving along the car will start to kangaroo and rev erratically with no response from the throttle pedal, all the warning lights will flash on and off. Similar to a learner driver kangaroo. When the car stops the revs will still be erratic, my girlfriend managed to get a video of the fault and I will try and upload it if needed. The fault clears when the engine is turned off. There is no fault code recorded and so far it has only happened twice, though the most recent time it happened was at 60mph which needless to say scared my girlfriend so now she will hardly drive it.
I have been advised to change the coil pack as it could be an ignition fault, also mentioned is the TPS sensor but I would like to get a few opinions from experts before I start changing everything.
Any advice is greatly appreciated!

I would start with the crank sensor behind the alternator, when it gets too hot starts to breakdown and stops working.
The same happend to mine it only cost around 30 quid for a new one

It's attitudes like this that put people off contributing.
If Rhys had a similar set of symptoms and changing the crank sensor solved the problem for him, then he should certainly say so!
Obviously I'm not saying that it's unimportant to establish the exact engine in the car, it would be helpful for the original poster to let us know.

this wasnt aimed at you
rhys15 said straight away crank sensor yes he may of had the same faults
And it people giving out poor advice without knowing all the facts if you have a problem mc_nebula report me for trying to get all the facts so i can use my 17 year in the trade trying to help some one get it right first time with out spending out lots of money on thing that wont solve the problem
Any way back to the topic in hand it could be a number of things even down to a blocking exhaust or a simple wiring earth fault
