Wheel bearing problems was created by mattyj
Hi, my jimnys rear wheel bearings went 2 week ago so i replaced them with brand new blueprint ones and theyve gone again! Cant understand why theyve gone again, has anyone else had a problem with going through wheel bearings? Im currently running 235/75 15s at the min on 8J rims so there not the smallest of tyres? And ive just noticed ive been running with abit of a soggy tyre could this be why?

im gunna make a new thread advertising it so ile put a link on here and its a 53 twin cam jimny 65,000 miles i bought it box standard as i was going to start from scratch but it already stands me at about 5,000 and i cant afford to keep putting money into it as im only 18 its got 235/75 15 tyres that have done about 500 miles on brand new 8j modulars, 2.5'' rough country suspension lift springs and shocks, castor correction bushes, new clutch, full new exhaust including cat and lamba sensor, new pads and disks in front and new rear shoes, poly bushes in front radius arms, extended brake pipes, ORA winch plate on the front but ive used it as a towing point because the standard front towing points are shit, weak as piss and you cant even get a D link threw them so its bent, new crank oil seal, new air filter and spark plugs, and will have new rear bearings before the vehicle is sold, looking for around £1700 the bad points are, the back corner of the roof is dinted from scraping a tree a kirton off road center, the fins or the radiator are abit shabby from all the mud but the temerature gauge doesnt leave the middle, the front drivers wing has a few small dints in it, all in all its a good motor it cost me £2150 for the car box standard and ive only owned it 6 months but the way im going with it im only gunna end up loosing out on more money taxed n tested till about march time i think

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there

When I did my rear bearing a couple of years ago, it started leaking in very short order.
Turned out the plain bush that you put on after the bearing, which is the oil seal surface, was rough.
On removal of the half shaft I could see a bright ring where the oil seal had been trying to polish it already.
Sticking the whole half shaft complete in the lathe at work polishing the bush up and a new oil seal has cured it completely.
