Jimny Towing Trailer Off Road?

Had my first taste of towing a trailer with a decent bit of weight in the back we are possibly talking about 350kg total weight and I was surprised on how much it effected the Jimny up hills... I expected a slight dip in power but at some points I have to shift down to 1st then snatch 2nd once I had ran out of REVS!
This has made me question the Jimny capability on towing a expedition trailer off road for long distances... I was planning and making the trailer to a limit of 500kg
Now has anyone got any experience rowing this kind of weight off road? Mainly steep inclines and decents as this trailers is being built for a trip to the pyrenees mountains so alot of ups and downs haha
The trailer will be based on a Sankey like the one I have been towing this weekend
Any ideas?
Thanks
JJ

I have thought of the 1.6 engine swap but I think that would kill me in insurance. ..

Don't tell your insurance! The engine would still look identical

I tow a small trailer with approx all-up weight of 250 kg on long trips (up to 5-6,000 k's). My Jimny handles that no problems but I wouldn't tow anything bigger as the Jimny is not an ideal tow vehicle. Revs too high and requires constant work through the box to keep things moving. A low-revving vehicle is generally more suited to towing, something with a diesel maybe.

This did go through my head I admit haha
And yes I think mines the G13BB Jimny would swapping the heads make a big difference?
Later on in life I will be upgrading to something bigger like a 3.0L TD Land cruiser but for now I would like to attempt a trip with the Jimny it's like a little challenge
