Today I changed the Kingpin Bearing on the off front side of my 2007 Jimny for the first time (I'm a Jimny Novice). The "how to" was very good and of great value during the job.
I started at 0900 and finished for 1600 with a few cups of tea in between. If all went well I suspect I would have been finished much sooner but I had trouble with the track rod ends which a quick look at the internet sorted (didn't know how to take them apart,). A couple of bolts sheered off which needed drilling and re tapping and a bolt was seezed solid which needed a blow torch and mole grips.
I guess the purpose of this post is to say to would be king pin bearing changers is, make sure you have the tools as specified in the how to guide and be prepared for things like bolts being difficult but it is a relatively simple process which needs patience and a reasonable knowledge of spanner work,

I'm glad to hear that because my friend's Jimny failed an MOT because of the Kingpin bearing. My sister's Jimny is also leaking some smelly liquid from one of hers, and I noticed this morning thta one of mine is starting to leak. Looks like I will be doing this at least 3 times in the near future

Glad to hear a success story from a novice changing the KPB as today I noticed the tell-tale leak from my NSF swivel and I'm a novice.
Problem is I'm away with work for a few weeks so won't be able to attend to it and in that time my dad will be using the jimny - is this a no no or can it get away with light use until I can repair?
