Need a transmission kit for 2004 Jimny was created by BeeK
Hello all. I'm in the Caribbean, and I need a transmission kit for my 2004 Jimny (automatic). The local Autotrade is trying to charge me $3K USD for it, but this seems excessive. Does anyone have recommendations for where I can order one, either online or over the phone? The one place I have found so far is in China, and they refuse to ship until after the Chinese New Year (in early February). Many thanks.

What is a transmission kit?
Is it a gear ratio reduction you're looking for ?

I need a transmission repair/rebuild kit. The engine runs OK, but the car doesn't respond to the gas and won't move. I had the car towed to Autotrade, and they said its definitely a transmission problem. They can open up the transmission for a cost of about $600 USD, but they also said they need a transmission rebuild/repair kit to close and replace. For that, they want to charge me about $3K USD.
Autotrade stated that it's very time consuming to open (and closer) the transmission without the kit because the bands need to be very carefully removed to preserve them. Sounds like they don't have much luck here with carefully removing the bands. I'm on a small island, so quality repairs may not be the highest priority.
The Autotrade tech said that what's wrong/needs replacing (if anything besides the bands) won't be known until the transmission is opened. And it may or may not need additional parts, depending on the fault.

It's an M13 engine. At this point, I'm looking for a used gearbox. I've found a few G13s, but not any M13s yet. I'll keep searching, but I'm also up for suggestions, thoughts, etc. Thanks!

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationI would contact a company like CAM Suzuki who specialize in used jimny parts.. let them know your chassis number so they can search for the correct part for you. I'd also consider swapping over to manual transmission and CAM could help you with this as they could get all the parts together at the same time to do the conversion. I would also consider getting a few other bits shipped at the same time such as transfer box, front driveshafts and any body panels that you might be looking to replace as the cost of a pallet does not change with the weight you put on it!..
CAM sell on ebay also and this is an M13 Manual transmission they currently have..
Also... is it definitely the main gearbox that's the fault.. the transfer box is weak on the jimny and would be my first consideration as usually automatics start to slip rather than just give up.. have a look if the mid propshaft is turning, the one between the auto box and transfer box.. if the transfer box is the issue then this is great as they are much more available, cheap and would ship in a box rather than on a pallet. Also check your auto transmission fluid as I am told that simply replacing with fresh can sort out a box.
