yep diff and transfer box breathers are essential if dealing with water deeper than the centre of the wheel, gearbox one is only really needed if planning on going into deeper water as its alot higher than the others IMO.

to tackle salisbury plain id definately advise under armour, breathers, mud tyres, and a snorkel as some of the water is unavoidable!!i was probably lucky without one but i followed idiotmobil all day so judged the depth using his truck as a guide and avoided the really deep stuff as best i could, if i had my snorkel back then i would have followed him through everything!!!!glad ive got a diff guard tho,on one vid from the day you can see where i was ploughing through the ground with it and its quite rocky up there. i think my jim did really well that day was definately an eye opener to whats possible in a standard jimny with mud tyres and taught me what mud really is lol, nothing phases me now on my local lanes after that day out, youll here me regularly saying "its nothing compared to salisbury, will roll through that no problem".

i personaly would recomend underarmour first as this helps you push the vehicle abit more as you dont need to worry to much about grounding out and doing damage, once youve been out and seen what your jim can do then decide what further mods are needed to suite YOUR terrain and needs.

did you get stuck stuck as in needed to be recovered or did you just merely fail to proceed as theres a big difference?! if you reversed back under your own power you've only failed to proceed ;)

id seriously consider if you actually need to jack it up before you go ahead a spend hundreds on something you might not need. lifting it and fitting huge tyres not only badly affects the drive and ride quality but will dramaticly affect fuel consumption and puts more strain on other components etc.

how i look at it is this, lifting it is pointless unless fitting atleast 29" tyres to dramaticly increase ground clearance, this size tyre then requires a new low ratio transfer box (rocklobster) as the tyres ruin the gearing (these aint cheap), to fit tyres this size you also need atleast a 3" lift (correct me if anythings wrong here people) for a 3" lift you IDEALY need castor corrected radius arms to make it drive properly, all this costs ALOT of money not to mention the detrimental effect it has on fuel economy, i currently get 55ish miles out of a tenners fuel and im running mud tyres but only 195 80 15's so not to much bigger than standard, i pretty much followed idiotmobil everywhere on salisbury plain at a fraction of his cost, belive he gets 80miles to 30quids fuel, ill do 150miles to that!not taking into account the increase in insurance due to mods.

make sure you really need it for what your driving before forking out a fortune on unnecessary mods. they are very capable trucks as they are with the right tyres and driver ;)

also being able to just easily drive through and over everything surely gets boring as wheres the challenge/fun of picking the right driving line etc.

that's pretty much right except you can run 29" with 2" inch lift as I did then I trimmed just for the sake of it I recon you could get 30s under there with the offset wheels I have. no mods are unnecessary they all come together well to make a horrible car to drive lol joking aside last time I went out there you would have struggled big time there was no were to drive around bits I got stuck a few times and so did my brother In the pajero pulling that thing out is not fun

if you remember tho the only bits i really drove around was the deep water, when it came upto your bumpers id go round as it would have been over my headlights!!!i now have a snorkel so would play more, i can imagine how it gets alot more savage over the winter tho!!the deep water holes must be ALOT deeper by now lol. get loads of pics next time you go up there would like to see how different it looks.
