Hi

I'm a newbie on here. I've had my Jimny for a couple of years now, (2000 model), my OH bought it for my 40th birthday, and I love it. Especially in the winters over here and my snow tyres on, I can get everywhere!

Anyway, I've recently had a starter motor fitted. It was a faulty one which I had to send back to the supplier for exchange. Meanwhile my Jimny was stood out of action for a couple of weeks. We got the starter motor back, fitted - everything was perfect. Except when I went out in it the indicators weren't working. I checked the lights and the hazards and they were working fine.

I waited until my OH came home and he checked the fuses and he said they seem to keep shorting the fuse out, and he tried 3 different ones which blew each time, but not when the hazards were on, which worked fine.

Anyone's help or advice would be greatly appreciated

Looking at the wiring diagrams I cannot see anything that might be related to a starter motor swap but it might be the case something got trapped or pulled during this change as its quite a tight job...

if its totally unrelated to the starter motor I can see that the indicator and hazard circuits have separate fused supplies hence the reason that the hazards still work.. this also tells me that the hazard switch which also has the power feed for the indicators is likely to be fine.. also as the hazards are making the lamps flash and this part of the circuit is downstream of the switched for both hazard and indicators then there is no issue with the output loom or light units..

My favourite candidate here is the indicator switch (G26) but I would not rule out the hazard switch (G43) either. if the fuse blows immediately and without turning the indicators on then I suggest removing the connector from the indicator stalk(G26) and trying again with a new fuse.. if it blows then do the same again on for the hazard switch(G43)... if it still blows then there is damage somewhere in the supply circuit..
