I have one of the red/orange plastic jobbies in the glove box.
I haven't tried it but could it be to 'spin' the wheel nuts off once slackened/cracked?

red bit looks like 1 of them things you use to take chrome covers off the wheel nuts

Apart from being yellow mine has a thing like your red bit, it was in the box with the key for the alloys and is for getting the covers off the locks. The pins I don't have.
