Irwins Bolt Grippers. You can get these from Machine Mart. Trust me, these work!

Doh, complete typo there - I meant to say a 17mm 3/8" socket!

I'd rather try the 16mm socket first before splashing out on a set of the Irwin bolt grippers although I feel they may come in handy in the future as the rest of the jimny is being eaten away by tin worn these days.

Time to dig out the impact sockets and give it a good smack onto the bolt head.

Ah right! Me being dim, sorry - I was struggling to understand how you could be so dim but you weren't, I was!

I have some of those Irwin grippers and have used them quite a few times now so they do pay dividends really. Machine Mart do them.

Take out a bolt that does undo, and measure it to get the replacement.
From memory, they are fine pitched, so at a guess, M12x1.0 tensile, as they are in shear.

An allen bolt will do, as they are tensile, but you won't get it undone again in 2 years time.

Measure the diameter of the threaded end, then use a ruler to measure across 10 thread points, it will be 8mm for .8, 10mm for 1.0 12.5mm for 1.25 etc.

You will get them at any fastener supplier, or from one of the eBay traders, unless you are lucky enough to live within 50miles of a Suzuki dealer that
a) hasn't sold out to another franchise, usually Skoda
b) actually has a parts department.

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there :)

I normally get high tensile bolts (10.9 or 12.9 grade) for the J off ebay.
