Engine managent light on - way to turn off? was created by littlegreenjimny
Friends got a 2000 chain driven engine jimny
Engine management light came on, is there a way to reset this without diagnostic machine? Undo the battery for an hour?
Thanks

It will go off after you've disconnected the battery but will keep coming on again until you fix the problem. Whatever you do don't disconnect or reconnect the battery with the ignition on - thats a good way to blow the immo.

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there

A diagnostic reader for the chain driven engine is only £20, or £5 if you have a laptop to connect it to.
Most likely cause is the exhaust gas sensor on the manifold.
