Why fit diff breathers? was created by Leathery1
Sorry if this is a bit of a numpty question, but what are the consequences of wading without diff breathers?
Does it do serious damage quickly or is just that you need to keep changing the diff oils as it emulsifies with any water which gets in there?
Went a bit deeper than I intended to at the week end!

Not deep enough to get to the gearbox and tbox - only up to the sills on a 3" lift.
Do i need to change the oil straight away? Only had it done last week!

Drain it into a clean container and tip it back in if not contaminated.

Good idea supergaz - guess I should fit them anyway cos I have a funny feeling I will be getting in deeper than I meant to on regular basis!supergaz wrote: Drain it into a clean container and tip it back in if not contaminated.

The ford in your other picture gets very deep, last time I was there I abandoned that one was way to deep!!i inadvertently had mine upto the bottom of the headlights with no snorkle
the gearbox breather is pretty high compared to the rest, diffs and t box probably the most important specially if your regulaly wading.
