Approach angle is that which is possible to overcome on the approach to an object/obstruction (ie Jimny has approx 34 degrees) before the front end digs in stopping the front wheels getting traction to climb.

Remove bumper (or first thing that grounds on the approach) or increase the ground clearance may increase that angle?

Is that what you mean?

It says it has the front cross member and body mounts replaced to maximise aproch angle

Don't forget the back ;)

It's all very well having an approach angle of 45 degrees, but if there is a towbar or something fitted that digs in and acts as a plough when the front wheels start to go up the slope you still won't climb it.

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there :)
