Many rocklobsters make more noise than the standard Jimny t-box. This because they are usually made of welded used SJ410/413 gears.

Welded gears are always whiny, and even a stock SJ box is considerably noisier than a Jimny's box which is pretty much silent. I have 6.5 Trail gear reduction gears, and those whine some too, but it's almost silent compared to some welded gears I've seen/heard, and it mostly whines just when I engine brake in small gears.
Get some billet cut gears if you don't like the noise, because it's pretty much there to stay!
