Hi all im new to all this forum lark so please be gentle with my stupied question but I own a 2005 jimny VVT 5sp Manual and the gearbox started to make some very loud banging gringing noise's, so drained the oil. In the bottom of the drain tub It Left me a nice present of 3 steel ball and what looks like the remains of the bearing race carrier.  Iv'e been looking round tinterweb and nobody seems to have the correct box?? gave my reg No to a large supplier in Yorkshire He told me "Yeah got the box you need no probs" paid for it removed the damaged one to discover its the wrong one sent me a JM7E??? so returnded it as it was incorrect type,(And had to pay return FEE for the pleasure of his mistake) Now after a weeks searching all I seem to find are these JM7E type boxes from all the internet Breakers ("find as part ETC") Soooo After my long womble about my problem could I if fit this Jm7E box to my 2005 VVT with out any trouble or do I have to get other parts to assit the instalation??? Sorry for the long winded intro but I feel a little better for getting it of my chest so to speak Many Thanks for you taking the time to read this and Many thanks for any help in getting my bag of bolts back on road again!!!! Dave

Manual VVT, 2 1/2" lift, ORA castor corrected arms, 2" ORA body lift, 4:1 transfer box, Uprated front shafts & CVs ERM , ARBs back & front 3.9 diffs, 6 point cage, ORA winch bumper - Superwinch EP9, ORA rear bumper, ORA axle truses, Diff guards ERM , TBR tank guard, Snorkel, Kumho KL71.30.9.50 15
The VVT engine gearbox and the earlier M13 gearbox are not the same. It will bolt to your engine OK but the back mount is different. The sliding joint on the output spline is different, but most importantly the gear ratios are different. The early gearbox has an overdrive top and a higher 1st gear. The VVT box has a lower 1st gear and the 5th gear is 1:1 so the car would be over geared with the early box. The transfer box ratios are different to overcome the differences of the main gearbox ratios.

Have you tried getting your box rebuilt by someone?
You could try fitting the manual transfer box and prop? Not sure on the rear mount though, you may need to make something.
