Rear brakes leaking fluid! was created by Muzza904
So I was id just started changing my rear brake shoes at work one evening and a colleague decided to pump the pedal and see what happenen when I was getting something and the little piston that pushes on the shoes popped out a little squirting fluid all over the place so pushed it back in thinking all would be ok but no.
Last night noticed a puddle of brake fluid under the wheel. I think I may have nipped the little o ring seal on the inside of the piston bit. So my question is that if I have to pull out the little piston and change that seal when I put it back in im trapping air? Does this need bled out and how?

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there

Get the new seal, and replace (narrow end towards the brake shoe, coat with brake fluid so it slips in easily.)
Go under the left hand side where you will find a bleed nipple on the inside of the wheel, close to where the metal pipe goes in.
Undo carefully with a ring spanner (ring end of a combi is best), do not snap it off!. Nip it back up, pop the ring spanner on so it will turn to undo about 1/2 a turn.
Put a clear tube onto the nipple
Fill the reservoir with fresh fluid.
Get your colleague to sit in the driver seat, engine off.
Instruct him/her that you will shout
"press" and they are to push the pedal as far as it will go, and hold it down, it will go down further, they are to keep pushing on it.
"Let go" and they take their foot off.
Hold some sort of container over the end of the pipe, you want the end below the liquid when it starts to fill up, so it stays full and you can see any air bubbles in the pipe.
1) Shout "Press"
2) Undo the nipple 1/4 to 1/2 a turn and air will come out, and a little fluid
3) Pinch the nipple back up
4) Shout "Let go"
Repeat 1 to 4 until no bubbles come out with the fluid. Don't let the reservoir run out or air will get in at the top and you have to start again.
You may find after 3 or 4 goes that they shout back "I can't" at step 1, this means the brakes are bled, but best to keep on until there are no bubbles. Remove the pipe and wipe the nipple clean.
Pinch the nipple up a little tighter so it doesn't leak don't snap it off!
Shout "Press" one last time and wait a minute to check for leaks.
If you are not 100% confident, please get a mechanic to do it, as the brakes are safety critical.

If you have it all stripped still & you have damaged a cylinder, they are cheap enough to just replace and then you know you've got new parts all round!
