Grinding, After a jimnybits 3"lift was created by DIG5069
Hello everyone, I have just join'd the forum tonight, I would of joined sooner but my lappy was dead!
I have a bit of a problem with my jimny, i have had it 6ish months with no probs except a nackered battery :(
I bought a 3" lift kit with procomp 1000 shocks, extra long flexis and yellow (cheepy) castor bushes. all the dodgy/difficult bits that are mentiond on these pages were a doddle! B)
the worst bits were the brake lines which i cut off eventually and renew'd
But after putting it all back together and taking it for a drive it is grinding from somewhere possibly the brakes?? (it sounds like a damn steam train from 10mph+)
Any help or ideas on what could be causing this would be very much appreciated
Thanks in advance Keith :)

So its making a chuff chuff chuffing noise may be a brake back plate rubbing on a disc

Hi thanks for the qwick reply, Yep! thats exactly what it sounds like! (ya get some funny looks of people in the street lol)
I will pull it to bits again tomorow and check that, could the rear drums also make it do this?
I have cleaned and copper greased every thing when it got its lift! this has got me stumped
Cheers Keith

:( Ok your scaring me now!!! What mite not be seated properly??? The pads or the disk?
When I had the radius arms off the swap the front bush's the disks and backing plates was touching/sitting on the ground, The disk had to be pushed back on to the wheel studs but its wasn't stuck poking out. all it took was a gentle push by hand.
Thanks again for the replys. Keith

You asked about rear brakes and this ^ was my answer

As for your last post id say it more than likly to be the back plate on the disc
