water leak, possibly cracked head? was created by davies
Hi there I have a 2001 jimny and it appears I have a water leak as my radiator needs topping up almost daily and the engine seems to be getting hot sometimes. I have a browny coloured gunk under the rad cap and am worried I could have a cracked head? The dipstick does not have any mis colour. If this is the case with a cracked head I am tempted to use seal up, is this a good idea? And it says on the instructions of use I would need to drain and flush the system, how do I do this? Any help or info much appreciated, many thanks, Michael

Thanks, I have just found out from my mechanic that it is a gasket leak. I am going to try chemi weld as its too expensive for me to fix, would you recommend this?

Nope. I don't believe in short cuts or miracle cures.
Which engine is yours? Twin cam?

Agreed if its head gasket only fix is head skim, reseat valves etc & new gasket, temp fix will only cause you more more work & expense later.
