Can any body tell me where the Vitara type codes are. I was scanning the ebey for a cd workshop manual and it mentions SQ416,SQ420 &SQ625 as the models it covers. Now the log book on mine shows the variant as A03V & Version as M/T. No mention of those sort of numbers like the Jimny which shows the model code.

SQ is a Grand Vitara. You have to be a bit careful with the model code as Suzuki use two different model codes for each model. What is the first 10 digits of the VIN?

Some Suzukis and a bunch of motorcycles.

Thanks for your replies Rhinoman and mlines. I was at Suzuki dealers today to pick up my reverse(backup!) lights switch and according to their parts catalogue model selection they show my model as a SQ416V. Now from mlines list the code for the 16v engine is MT which is what is listed on the log book as the ....Version... with the ....Variant.... given as A03V which is part of the chassis(VIN) number. The first 10 digits are: JSAFTA03V0...... The dealer reckoned the SQ numbers are Suzuki inhouse coding! Yet the model number of the Jimny I have got is a SN413 which is part of the chasis number! Strange and confusing!
Cheers, mickt

The engine code in that list is 62, that code refers to the specific G16 engine and transmission combination for that model. The M/T on the V5C just means that its a manual transmission.

Some Suzukis and a bunch of motorcycles.
