Thats great news.

My question is, have you driven the car enough to give it a chance to fail, if it was going to fail, based on the frequency it was occuring before?

Just been out to change the drivers side disk and pads. There is loads of play in the front disk/hub.

But when I have driven it there has been no noise or anything unusual in the feel of the car or my brakes pulling. Wierd!

So would this be the bearing or could it be something else thats loose?

If there is no wheel on, there is nothing holding the disc on so it will be loose.
If you have play at the wheel, and it goes away with someone elses foot on the brake, it is wheel bearings.
If the play doesnt go away, then kingpins/track rods.

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there :)
