yeah, the ram air is just an myth.. there are calculations and a paper on this online somewhere that i read through once.

I run it facing the windshield, no bugs etc, and in the winter ice builds inside the snorkel head if I face it forward. I also pretend that the higher pressure on the windshield gives me more air forced into the snorkel

When I am off road I face it backwards. The reason is that facing forward it catches on trees and branches. I have had it bend, but not break fortunately, catching on a tree with the car leaning over to that side.
