Just went out and tried my fiddle brake set up and I have to say that for the money it is the single best mod I have ever done.....Total cost 56 26pound for a jimny hand brake and 30 pounds for the use of a work shop. Its just the ticket to stop me from being stuck in mud at the side of the road .. I can go some places in two wheel drive where I could not in standard 4wd.

Well done Jo King, easy cheap mod, definitely food for thought. Much easier with the handbrake on the rear drums and the two individual cables Suzuki must have had that in mind when thy designed it, not!!
I did fiddles on my 2A many years ago, doubled up the pipes to the rear drums, two master cylinders with two pedals and gas taps in the front pipes, passed the MOT at the time too with a pin through the pedals a-la John Deere! Those were the days.

How to make a Double J BRAKE.
One jimny handbrake from fleebay.
Remove handbrake from the jimny.
Take out each wire from both handbrakes.
Remove the plastic bottoms and rubber gaters
Partly cut off the rear metal bolt hole tab of the bought brake to allow them to fit closer together.
Make sure that they are perfectly aligned.
Weld together and brace where necessary.
Cut the rim off plastic bottoms so that they can be stuck together by silicon sealer.
Leave the holes for the left side as these will be used for the original hand brake bolts.
But be sure to leave the rims of the plastic where they wont interfere with each other.
Using a large double wide chain joining link from some farm machinery to be welded to brakes.
Be sure to do this with a pin through it to keep the locking mechanism straight.
Drill a small hole in the pin to allow for a sprung pin.
Measure the plastic with vernyers and make and plasma cut a hole in the jimny to accommodate.
Paint the hole so as not to rust.
Fit the new fiddle and use the remaining cable tabs and adjust it.
The pin will be removeable when going off road and will act as a normal hand brake when pinned.
Next....Go play....... Video yet to be made..I hope this give you as many smiles as it has done me.
