Just got my Jimny recently, and had the same problem, checked the vacuum hoses, massive split in the short piece to the manifold, quick repair and all is well !! Best of luck with yours !!

I decided to resurrect this old thread instead of making a new one.

My Jimny was made in 2006, with an electric transfer box.

We had some heavy snow last week, and I was driving for about 150 km on a motorway during the snowfall.
The road was all covered in snow, so I was driving in 4WD-H in 4th or 5th gear at around 50-70 km/h for the entire duration of the trip.

However, I noticed a strange issue soon after I engaged 4WD-H. About a minute after I engaged it, I noticed that the green 4WD-H light began to flash during the driving (it had been normally constantly lit for the first minute of 4WD-H operation).

When I saw that, I disengaged back to 2WD in motion (and immediately noticed that the car is less stable on the snowy road - normal expectation).
After approx 10 seconds, I engaged 4WD-H again. It engaged fine (clicking sound, car got more stable), and 4WD-H light was constantly lit again.

However, after approx 10 minutes of constant driving, the green 4WD-H light began to flash again. It constantly flashed for at least 10 seconds before I disengaged back to 2WD again without stopping.

I then drove in 2WD for at least 30 seconds, and engaged 4WD-H again in motion. After that, the 4WD-H light did not flash during the remainder of the trip, which lasted at least 45 minutes.

I tried 4WD-H and 4WD-L mode a few times during the following days (but only for some short slippery sections which lasted no more than a couple of minutes), and I had no problems.

What could be the issue here?

Check out my thread about 4X4 issues here
www.bigjimny.com/forum?view=topic&catid=6&id=59108&start=24

Might seem irrelevant if you read from start so skip to end. It might be the vacuum pipes failing causing the electronics to fail to recognise positive or negative pressure in them, hence causing the 4X4 light to flash. I`m probably wrong, but its worth checking out.

My understanding was the system only checks for vacuum for the first few seconds, as you engage/disengage 4wd. Why it would decide there is a fault minutes after this I have no idea!
