speedo not working - sj transfer box on jimny

had the transfer box out to clean all the crap off it and oil change yesterday
back on now and speedo not working, re-seated and cleaned connection to speedo sensor. still nowt. speedo in dash wont even show milage. all other instruments working. any got any ideas ??

would a broken wire cause it to stop showing the mileage ??

sorted it. disconnected battery for 5 mins, reconnected and all is normal again. reckon this thing has a mind of its own !!
maybe i should have disconnected battery before removing box ?!?!?!?!

the main thing is all is well again and i can see how slow i'm going

Just had to say a huge Thank You to you for sharing this info.
I had the same speedo / odometer problem as you but mine just stopped working.
Even the mileage display window was blank.
I have spent hours on it both fiddling with connections on the car and searching the WWW.
I came across your post last night and thought, well it cant hurt.
I disconnected the battery this morning for 5 mins and when I re-connected it I saw that the mileage had reappeared a quick drive down the road saw the speedo working again... !!!!
I am absolutely thrilled as I was just about to take it to somewhere and no doubt pay for something expensive.

i also have to say a maaaaaaaaaaaaaaassive huge thanyou! failed my mot for my speedo and they couldnt fix it there so faced the prospect of having to find somewhere that could all the while having an unroadworthy car... stumbled accross this post and im all sorted in one day!!

I would also like to say a massive thank you for this solution, to the problem of a Jimny speedo not working. This was the second time this has happened to my wife's car.

The first time, about 6 years ago (she loves this car), it went to the dealer who replaced the speedo at great cost.

This time, having seen this post, I tried removing the battery for ten minutes, and the speedo is now working fine.
