ok. i've took ownership of my new jimny. well [2002] jimny actual.
and it got a few little thing i'm not super happy with.
1. gear selection can be difficult. mainly 1st and reverse. I've checked there's plenty of oil in the main gearbox. any ideas what else it could be??
2. clutch noise when idling. if you leave it in neutral. engine running you hear a ticking noise, but if you apply just 1/2 an inch of clutch peddle travel it goes away.
dry thrust bearing of something???
3. high biting point on the clutch, sign of heavy clutch wear???
any advice would be appreciated. Cheers Jon

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there

1) Normal: first is difficult when the gearbox is cold. Try changing the gear oil to the sx75/90 synthetic.
(No idea about reverse, I rarely go backwards except to go back into the drive, obviously it is warmed up when I get home.)
2) could be. Mine whirrs like a good 'un and goes quiet when I press the clutch.
3) There is an adjuster at the gearbox end of the clutch cable.
I guarantee it is seized solid.
Pull the plastic cover off the bell housing where the clutch arm is, unhook the cable from the arm, and pull it out. You can get it out of the front of the car over the radiator and free the adjuster wheel.
Adjust it to give some free play at the pedal. (1/2 to 3/4 of an inch)
If that doesn't fix it, think about a new clutch

Any advice on un-seizing the adjuster nut on the clutch cable? I’ve removed from the gearbox end and have tried the usual wd40 soaking but will not budge even with a pair of water pump pliers
