Air pressure in fuel tank was created by jimny4me
I am newcomer to the Jimny so I hope this question doesn't seem silly. when I release petrol cap there seems to be quite a build up of air pressure in tank is this normal or is there something blocked in the fuel cap and would the pressure have an effect on fuel gauge? thank you for any replies. ron

Hi!
Im pretty sure its normal, my jimny does this too, and so does my other car.

Unless there is a serious build up of pressure i cant see the sender in the tank being affected by it.

Richard.

Perfectly normal, the tank is sealed to prevent fumes escaping. When the pressure builds up too high it is released into the black plastic filter behind the steering box. When the engine starts the fumes get sucked in.

If the hiss stops happening, you have a leak :(

I'm guessing you think the gauge is faulty because it goes down so quickly? Again this is normal, a jimny has a tiny fuel tank and does about 30 mpg.

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there :)
