Before doing anything else, is the cable adjusted so there is a little free play?
As the plate wears, the biting point moves up the pedal.
The adjuster is at the lower end of the cable where it can corrode and seize up

Don't know about the eBay kits, sorry.

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there :)

don't waste your money on that ebay clutch that says its heavy duty they are a recon clutch with the pessure plate painted red & you can buy a recon for £50 or brand new for £95

To adjust,

simply (hah :silly:) rotate the plastic adjuster wheel so as to reduce the amount of thread on the side going towards the clutch pedal until there is a little free play at the pedal end. IIRR there is a rubber thingie that stops it rotating by itself that you have to deal with., must be obvious as I managed to adjust mine ;)

You will likely find that the adjuster is seized solid though, remove the plastic box on the gearbox and unhook the cable, then it pulls out to clean up the thread with a wire brush and penetrating oil.

You will need to adjust the cable when you fit a new clutch anyway so it won't hurt to free it up and adjust it.

This hopefully will move the biting point nearer to the floor and make the clutch lock up.

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there :)
