Probably a stupid question, but should it be vacuum filled to remove any air ( obviously the vacuum is removed after ) or does it not need to be 100% oil ?
The suction tool looks liek a grease gun with a pipe on it and no handle, never seen one before :)

You might have trouble removing the diff filler plugs if they've not been out for a while or never been out.

A 3/4" ratchet should fit ok.

If they won't undo the square you put the ratchet into could round off inside and then you have to resort to knocking a chisel into it to knock it round with a FBH!

So check to see if they er gonna come undone before you drain any oil out and buy new filler plugs or you'll be in a pickle with no oil and no way of filling them back up!

is the filler plug a square socket or do you mean just use one because it fits?
If its a square surely it shouldnt round off :/ - if its a torx or similar I have many..... and I barely ever use ratchets with sockets lol - stillies and a bar works better ;)

It was me with the syringe ;)

Always undo the filler before you undo the drain plug. For some reason the rear diff. filler plug seizes in, and nothing will remove it, except the BFH and a nice chisel(not too sharp mind)
Several people me included, have filed a square on a piece of hexagon steel and welded it into the rear filler bung.
The plug is a square, I think a 3/8 drive doesn't fit properly, so it knocks the corners out and goes round.
I have a Bluepoint (Snap-on's economy range) drain plug undoing kit, and none of them fit properly either.

The capacity figures in the handbook are wrong, I used an extra bottle of axle oil and gearbox oil when I serviced mine

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there :)

This is why I love ( some ) forums...... you cant beat personal experience.
Thanks for all the advice given :) - I will change the oil when I service her even if its already been done and not documented as its impossible to tell.
I really cant wait to mod her like many on here, however essentials come first :)

I must say tho the fluid specs martim put up was spot on for the transfer .8 of a litre But believe what facade says so will buy 3 ltr to do both diffs.

Mine had a magnetic plug in too?

Whats the service routine for diffs, like intervals? Gonna do them next.

Agree though the ratchet isnt a perfect fit... bit loose but worked on the transfer ok. Welding an extension in would be good! Just gonna soak mine in wd40 a few days before and each day leading up and pray haha.
